The 5 Browns are delivering on their dream to wake up classical music by introducing it to the widest, largest and most excited audience they can find. Whether performing individually or together in various combinations from duo to complex five-piano arrangements, The 5 Browns reveal a deep connection to the intent of their material while bringing a fresh energy and dynamic character to the color and tonal spectrum of their sound.

From award-winning writer Jane Anderson comes this “magnetic work of theater” (The San Francisco Chronicle) filled with compassion and humor. Dinah and Bill, a devout, church-going couple from the Midwest are struggling to keep their lives intact after the loss of their daughter. Dinah is compelled to reconnect with her left-leaning cousins in Northern California who’re going through their own trials. Jeannette and Neil have lost their home to a wildfire and Neil has cancer. However they seem to have accepted their situation with astounding good humor, living in a yurt on their burn site and celebrating life with hits of pot and glasses of good red wine. The couples clash over their beliefs about life, death, and religion, but do so with a healthy dose of humor and heart leading to some hilarious and poignant moments.

The Reno Phil Chorus joins the orchestra for the rousing season finale. Audiences will be delighted by the powerful sound of Poulenc’s Gloria, mixing musical styles with a dizzying, kaleidoscopic effect. The 55th season will close with one of Mahler’s most magnificent works, his Symphony No. 5. From the first trumpet call, to delicate Adagietto, to massive horn anthem, each moment is brimming with emotion.

Participants and attendees have access to two full days of daytime performances and jazz clinics, covering a range of topics presented by accomplished jazz musicians and Artist Educators from around the nation.
