The Reno Report for December 1, 2025
Email from City of Reno Reno City Manager Jackie Bryant, here with another Reno Report! Can't view this email? View as Webpage A Message From Reno City Manager, Jackie Bryant. Hello everyone, and happy December! It’s been a festive start to the month, we just lit the Christmas tree, and we’re looking forward to continuing the celebrations with the Menorah Lighting on December 14! I hope you’re finding moments to enjoy the season as we move into winter. Speaking of, with snow on the way, now is the perfect time to get familiar with our Interactive Snow Plow map at Reno.gov/Snow. You can look up your neighborhood, see which priority route your street falls under, and know when to expect service during winter storms. And if you spot a downed tree, debris in the road, or notice an area that hasn’t been plowed in a reasonable amount of time, please reach out through Reno.gov/RenoDirect so our crews can respond quickly! Don't forget, the Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) survey closes on December 3, and your feedback helps us better understand neighborhood priorities and strengthen wildfire preparedness. Make sure to view the draft and provide your input. And finally, if you’re able to give this season, we’re hosting a blood drive on December 10. The "Bloodmobile" will be parked right in front of City Hall beginning at 7a, and your donation can make a meaningful difference for those in need across our region. (make an appointment here) Take care, stay safe, and be kind to one another. Jackie Bryant, City Manager Is there something specific you'd like to see in this newsletter? Please send me an email! This event is part of a two-day festival that runs Nov. 28-29. It will be full of festive fun, sparkling lights, and family-friendly activities. Watch the video (Via KOLO) Bear Safety with NDOW Bears are more active across northern Nevada this fall, and NDOW says it’s completely normal for the season. As they fatten up for winter, bears are following food sources into lower elevations, leading to more sightings in neighborhoods from Verdi to Douglas County and around Lake Tahoe. NDOW reminds residents that garbage is the number one attractant, followed by backyard chickens, fruit trees, bird feeders, and pet food. City staff held three virtual workshops to collect feedback. A survey is also currently open to gather feedback. Nonprofits are usually exempt from business licenses because they don’t operate for profit and aim to serve the public or a specific cause. However, this exemption has raised concerns in city planning and public safety. Without registration, the City is often not aware of nonprofit operations, which can lead to incompatible land uses or limited safety reviews compared to commercial businesses. Community Wildfire Protection Plan The public review period for the draft 2026 City of Reno Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) will close on Dec. 3! The 2026 City of Reno CWPP is a collaborative effort to enhance the safety and resilience of our community from wildfires. This plan aims to identify and address vulnerabilities while emphasizing the protection of lives, property, and valued resources. To access the draft plan and participate in the review process, visit the Reno Fire Department’s CWPP main page.
