Hi Reno, It has been a busy June with back-to-back Council meetings, but they’ve resulted in meaningful progress for the Reno community! From major projects and community investments to long-term planning efforts, Reno City Council and staff have continued working to move important priorities forward across the Biggest Little City. One of those recent approvals included upgrades to the Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center, which will help improve and modernize a space that serves residents from across Reno. You can learn more about the project and what it means for the community in the latest episode of "On the Agenda." In this edition, you’ll also find information on the upcoming CAMO-RNO Veterans Resource Fair on July 15 from 3 to 5 p.m. Veteran-oriented service providers, treatment providers, and community partners are encouraged to sign up and table at the event to help connect local veterans and their families with valuable services and support. You’ll also read about the return of the Rolling Recreation Trailer as it heads back out to neighborhood parks across Reno with free games, activities, and family fun for residents of all ages. We’re also sharing the final draft of the City of Reno Strategic Plan, which is now available for community review and feedback. Resident input continues to play an important role in helping shape the City’s priorities, services, and future investments. Thank you for continuing to stay engaged, involved, and connected to our community. Jackie Bryant City Manager, City of Reno Is there something specific you'd like to see in this newsletter? Every time people shop in our community, portions of the sales tax flow back to cities and counties through the C‑Tax system. That revenue helps pay for the essentials like public safety, parks, and the services residents rely on every day. What purchases don’t get charged sales tax? Most everyday essentials—like groceries, digital products, and many services (medical, financial, and professional)—are sales-tax-exempt in Nevada. The state’s exemption list is long, but these are the big ones you’ll notice. Fewer taxable items mean less C‑Tax revenue is available for local services. Want to learn more about C-Tax? Join us at the Ward 2 NAB on 6/16 for an overview of this important revenue source. You can also check out Reno.Gov/ctax for the details.
