View as Webpage January 08, 2026 Reno Connect | 2026 Junior Ranger Program Schedule   Junior Ranger Schedule for 2026 The City of Reno is excited to announce the 2026 Junior Ranger Program, a fun and educational way for residents of all ages and abilities to explore Reno’s parks while learning about nature and park stewardship. What’s New in 2026? This year, the program expands to include two activities per month, rotating across six different parks from January through December 2026. Each activity offers hands-on opportunities to connect with nature, learn new skills, and help care for our parks and outdoor spaces. How to Participate Participants can pick up a free Junior Ranger Guide at any City of Reno recreation facility or access it online. By attending activities and completing ranger-led challenges, participants collect stickers in their guide. After completing six activities and earning six stickers, Junior Rangers will be invited to a special swearing-in ceremony in January 2027, where they’ll receive their official Junior Ranger badge. Kickoff Event The first Junior Ranger event takes place at Idlewild Park on Friday, January 9, from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. Participants will learn the basics of birding, observing a variety of local bird species alongside a City of Reno Park Ranger.
