Email from City of Reno View as Webpage December 2025 Reno Connect | Arts & Culture Connecting Citizens to our Community   Photo Credit: Arthur Rothstein, Library of Congress Lear Community Meeting Registration and Updates We’re excited to share that The City of Reno is hosting a community meeting to discuss the future of the Lear Theater/First Church of Christ, Scientist. The two-hour meeting will review the Lear’s current condition, including the construction activities completed toward its use as a theater. Attendees will also see conceptual options with estimated costs to help the community envision the building’s future. The presentation will be led by Alicia Barber, Ph.D., along with City of Reno staff. The meeting will take place on: Saturday, Jan. 10, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce, located at 4065 S. Virginia St. Reno, NV The community meeting is free to attend. Those interested in attending can RSVP by going to the Lear Community Meeting event page on Eventbrite. A virtual option will be available for those who cannot attend in-person. To register for this option, visit the Zoom Registration page. A recording of the meeting will be available on the City’s Lear webpage following the event. In Sept. 2025, the Reno City Council directed that the future of the Lear Theater/First Church of Christ, Scientist be referred to the Historical Resources Commission (HRC) for discussion and recommendations about a community meeting format, topics, and recommendations. Following their review, and the community meeting, recommendations will be presented at a future Council meeting.
