Email from City of Reno View as Webpage March 10, 2026 Reno Connect | Regional Fire Services Study   Residents Invited to a Regional Fire Services Study Informational Session The City of Reno, City of Sparks, and Washoe County are launching a regional study to evaluate the consolidation of local fire services and explore opportunities to better coordinate fire-based emergency medical services across the region. Authorized by Nevada Senate Bill 319, the study will independently evaluate current operations across Reno Fire, Sparks Fire, and Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District, identify opportunities for regional collaboration, and recommend strategies to improve service delivery, operational efficiency, and fiscal responsibility. The study will also examine how fire-based emergency medical services could be more effectively coordinated to serve the broader community. Emergency Global Solutions (EGS) was selected through a competitive process to lead the effort over the coming months. Residents are invited to attend a public informational meeting on March 19 to learn more about the study, meet the consulting team, and hear from the region’s fire chiefs about the process. The study is non-binding and will provide local jurisdictions with an analysis of the potential benefits, challenges, and overall viability of consolidation. A final report is expected this fall. Language translation and hearing-impaired assistance will be available via Wordly, and ASL interpretation can be requested through Washoe311. Following the meeting, a webpage and public survey will be available for residents interested in tracking the study and providing feedback.
